President's Notes

Dear Members,

Without you, the membership, of course there would be no D.A.A.D.S, let me just say that is not one of our problems. Currently our membership base is at an all time high and I want to send out a hearty "Welcome" to all our new members and thank our renewed members for their continued support. I know many of you join to receive the "Modern" and to attend functions and events that peak your interest. Many of you are preservationists and support our on going effort to thwart the wrecking ball on Detroit's Deco jewels and some for the educational programs. Whatever the reason, you support the organization and we thank you.

However, if you joined to get more involved, you signed up with the right group. Don't for a minute think you do not know enough about the period or you have nothing to offer (I've heard that many times) if you want to help, we've got something for every single member. Take a look at the the committees.

The newsletter, for instance, could you write an article, solicit an ad, take a photograph? For over a year now we have been looking for an editor. Any one of these things would be a help.

Preservation; could you spend some time researching a building at the library? Would you consider giving a tour of a building or help set up a display at an event?

Speaking of events, could you make a flyer on your computer, could staff a check-in booth or information booth (training is included) or greet members at an event? Do you have and idea that you would be willing to help implement for the benefit of the entire group to enjoy? Do you have a talent that we do not know about that would be beneficial. No matter how trivial you think your contribution would be, I am sure we can use your help, so call us, any of us, that's why we publish our numbers! We want to hear from you.

By the way, anyone interested in a board position as secretary, call collect! We are in dire need. Duties are light, call myself or Jacques for details.
