The biggest Deco event of the year in Southeast Michigan is, without a doubt, Michigan Modernism. The largest gathering of 20th Century Design vendors and shoppers in the area, Michigan Modernism is the once-a-year chance for the Deco-loving community to gather, buy, sell, meet, greet, and generally strut their stuff.
The exposition is cosponsored by M&M Enterprises and the Detroit Area Art Deco Society. The night before the exposition, DAADS is throwing a party to raise money for DAADS' preservation and education efforts.
The Third Annual Preview Party is on Friday, April 26th, from 7 to 10 pm. Tickets are $60 in advance, with the proceeds going to DAADS. The party is the official start to Michigan Modernism, which opens to the public Saturday at 11 am. However, partygoers will have the opportunity to browse and buy at the many different vendors' booths before the general public.
The ticket price includes food, drink, and dancing to live Big Band music. This is one of the major fundraising events for DAADS, and the donations from this party are essential to DAADS' preservation and education efforts.
Tickets for the Preview Party can be obtained by calling (810) 547-5716, or at the Duke Gallery, Royal Oak, (810) 547-5511, the David Klein Gallery, Birmingham, (810) 433-3700, Modernage, Pontiac, (810) 745-0999, and the Knightsbridge Antique Mall, Northville, (810) 344-7200.
