Metro Detroit's top endangered art deco buildings

On a positive not, The Wyandotte filtration plant has been removed from our endangered list due to a restoration of it's facade. But it's deterioration as usual for the bulk of our Deco structures.

Grinell Industrial Park - This area is to Detroit in industrial deco as the south beach area is to Miami in tropical deco. With city airport expansion in limbo this whole area lies dormant destined to ruin.

McNichols Business Strip - Unfortunately this once proud avenue has fallen victim to urban blight. From Schaefer to City Airport its many deco structures that graced this thoroughfare have been radically transformed with vitrolite facades painted over with crude homemade signs hawking liquor and lotto or Mayan/Aztec deco relief's crumbling off the sides of poorly maintained or neglected. Buildings that once were some of the finest examples of Deco architecture in Detroit.
