The Detroit Area Art Deco Society Preview Party for the Michigan Modernism Exposition is the party of the year that you just can't miss!
This year's party features delicious hors d'oeuvres by Amaryllis, as well as wine and full bar. Michigan's own jazz vocalist, Kathy Kosins will return this year with tunes of the deco era to entertain the full capacity crowd that fills the Southfield Civic Center on the evening of April 23rd.
For this year's Michigan Modernism Exposition Booth, The Detroit Area Art Deco Society will present an exciting theme, "Fashion Designs of the Deco Era." The booth will highlight fashion and fashion designers of the era with examples of both day and evening ensembles, with pieces loaned from several private collections. Accessory examples representative of the time, from hats and handbags to jewelry and footwear will also be on display. This year's booth exhibit promises to portray the diverse changes and unmistakable styles of the remarkable Deco Era of fashion. Don't miss it!
To continue and complement the "fashion theme," an informative lecture will be presented on Sunday morning, April 25, at 11 am, prior to the opening of the show. The lecture, entitled, "The Art of Fashion: 1925–1945," will be conducted by Caroline Ashleigh of Caroline Ashleigh Associates in Birmingham, MI. Caroline Ashleigh is the regional representative for William Doyle Galleries of New York City, well known auctioneers and appraisers. Complete with exciting visuals, this promises to be a fascinating topic.
