President's Notes

Dear Members,

It’s hard to believe another year has flown by, and we’re embarking on a new millennium! As members of DAADS, we all look forward to the year 2000, but we’ll always have “roots” in the 20th century, specifically the deco era.

That’s why it’s so important to maintain your membership in the Detroit Area Art Deco Society. As we move into the 21st century, we must continually work to keep the deco era alive — through preservation efforts for existing structures in danger of destruction, through funding of educational grants to encourage interest and knowledge in this time period, and by providing lectures, tours, and entertaining events as well.

We still need committed, enthusiastic people to join our Board and the members who plan these events. It really is a lot of fun, and you’d be working with a great group of people. If you’d like to attend the next DAADS Board meeting to get an idea of what we’re working on, we’d love to have you! The planning committee for the upcoming Modernism show is just forming, and you could also be a part of planning this major fundraiser. If you’re interested in being part of this group or attending a Board meeting, please give me a call. We need your help!!

The Board and Trustees of DAADS all join in to wish you the best “Deco Christmas” ever and health and happiness in the new year and the new millennium. “DECO THE HALLS!!!”
