Miami Modernism 2000 Review

The 7th Miami Modernism took place at the recently renovated Radisson Deauville hotel in Miami Beach—and it kicked in the new decade with a huge BANG in the perfect decor of this 1957 hotel! By 6pm on Friday, when the doors opened, a sizable crowd had gathered and dashed in promptly. It took them a while to realize that trays of hors d'oeuvres were being passed around and that the pleasant sound came from a steel band.

The show continued on Saturday and Sunday with very strong levels of sales for many exhibitors. And while exhibitors came from all across the country, Michigan was proudly represented, not only by Pontiac resident Jacques Caussin, the producer, but also by several exhibitors. And here are their comments about the show...

Show Producer, Jacques Cassin

FULL CIRCLE ANTIQUES of Bloomfield Hills: "We had a great show—one of our best! There was a lot of interest in lucite handbags, and we sold quite a few. We even came home with a few things for our own home!"

DECO DOUG of Royal Oak was a first-time exhibitor: "A wonderful show and a great experience...the quality was great and worthy of museums...and there is nothing wrong with being in warm Miami in January!!!"

Springdale, Hartford, Michigan

SPRINGDALE, Hartford: "A great show and still doing hell of a follow-up business!!"

Vertu, Royal Oak, Michigan

VERTU, Royal Oak: "It was our best MIAMI MODERNISM show this year, and we've been there every year! Very impressed with the high quality of merchandise on the floor.”

Top Hat, Northville, Michigan

TOP HAT, Northville: "The MIAMI MODERNISM show was very exciting; lots of interest in tropical prints. Many customers planned on using pairs of drapes for shower curtains... many more going to be beautiful accent pillows and window treatments."

Triola's, Lansing, Michigan

TRIOLA'S, Lansing: "The show is one of the best that we do... I highly recommend taking a winter break to shop this show."
